Closing ceremony of the Progressive Ukraine programme

This week, an online graduation ceremony for the Progressive Ukraine Programme took place at the European Parliament, bringing together young leaders, policymakers and supporters of Ukraine’s European future. The programme, run within the Open Progressive University (OPU), is led by the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS) in cooperation with the S&D Group in the European Parliament and the Foundation Max van der Stoel (FMS).

The ceremony celebrated 25 young Ukrainian students who successfully completed the e-learning course, designed to empower progressive youth and strengthen their engagement with Ukraine’s future and its path toward the European Union. Throughout the programme, participants explored topics such as Russia’s war against Ukraine, the country’s reconstruction, EU enlargement, and the reforms needed for EU membership. Alongside academic training, students gained access to expert insights and built valuable international networks.

With participation in the Progressive Ukraine Programme, students will have a valuable contribution in building a democratic, progressive, and European future for Ukraine.

Beyond marking the proud end of an academic journey, the ceremony underscored the continued commitment of FEPS and its partners to supporting Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and reconstruction. FEPS, S&D Group and the FMS reaffirm their intention to help foster democratic resilience, progressive leadership and a strong European future for the country.
