“I don’t expect a coalition before the summer holidays” – watch our Kosovo webinar!

Sunday the 9th of February, Kosovo held its Parliamentary elections. With only a few percent of the votes still need to be counted, the winner of the elections is already known. Vetëvendosje, with Prime Minister Kurti as leader, won over 41% of the votes. They are followed up by the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) with 22.2% and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) with 17,8% of the votes. Ahead lies the difficult task of forming a coalition – with polarisation dominating these elections, Kosovo foresees a long coalition building process.

On Tuesday 11th of February, we spoke with Donika Emini, executive director of CiviKos, and Visar Ymeri, executive director of the Institute for Social Policy, about the recent elections and the outcomes. What are the expectations for government formation? How will these elections results affect Kosovo’s foreign policy direction, especially regarding the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue?
