Between the 5th and 8th of February 2015, the European Forum for Democracy and Solidarity organized a follow-up training within the Future Leaders project. The training was attended by representatives of social democratic parties from Jordan, Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine and Tunisia. It took place in Petra (Jordan) and focused on creating and communicating a message and on negotiating. The Future Leaders training course is supported by the UK Labour Party through the Westminster Foundation. Our partner in Jordan, Jordanian Commission for Democratic Culture (JCDC), provided great assistance in making the training possible, while Foundation Max van der Stoel (FMS) provided two trainers to conduct the training.
After introducing the program the trainers, Souad Haouli and Marianna Tsirelson, discussed the homework with the participants. The homework was to create a manifesto that would apply in all the countries. The discussion was followed by a workshop on how to create a message containing a specific issue.
The following module focused on how to create a campaign event. The participants had to use their campaign strategy, that they had made as homework. Also they had to select a specific target group that they would attract with their event.
The next day the trainers started with a workshop on negotiating. The participants very much liked this workshop as they could improve their negotiation skills.
The following part of the training focused on the evaluation. The evaluation included a personal part and a logistical part. We concluded the training by selecting per country an Ambassador who will be the contact person for the European Forum and will keep the Forum posted about the participants, future plans and activities. The participants will be in contact with each other through a Facebook group which they had created after the first seminar in Amman in November.
